Our immersive 14-day program equips staff with everything they need to lead, inspire, and connect with campers.

14-Day Counselor Training Program

Building Confidence, Skills & Community

Our 14-day intensive training is specifically designed for counselors. Here’s what you can expect:

• Camper Engagement Workshops
  Learn age-appropriate strategies for managing behavior, building trust, and making each camper feel valued.

• Communication & Leadership
  Practice leading group activities, resolving conflicts, and working collaboratively with peers and supervisors.

• Emergency Preparedness & Safety Protocols
  Gain practical knowledge on how to handle everything from minor injuries to severe weather with calm, clear decision-making.

• Daily Routines & Camp Culture
  Understand the structure of a day at Camp W*K, learn traditions, and explore what makes our camp community so special.

• Hands-On Experience
  Participate in shadow days, team-building exercises, and interactive sessions that simulate real camp scenarios.

Certifications That Set You Apart

As part of our camp staff training, we also offer the opportunity to earn valuable certifications through the American Red Cross. These nationally recognized credentials not only make you a more capable counselor but also add lasting value to your resume.

Water Safety Instructor Training

Dates: June 12–15, 2026
Cost: Free for W*K staff (cost TBD for outside participants)
This course prepares participants to teach swim lessons and promote water safety at camp and beyond.

Lifeguarding, Waterfront & Bloodborne Pathogens

Dates: Offered during our 14-day training program

Cost: Free for W*K staff (cost TBD for outside participants)

Courses are open to all staff members who will be working in aquatic roles or who want to deepen their safety training. All counselors are encouraged to take this course.
